John Paul focuses on the representation of start-up and emerging growth companies throughout various stages of their lifecycles, including corporate formation and structuring, venture capital financing transactions, corporate governance and securities matters, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to Matterhorn, John Paul was an attorney with Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian LLP, where he advised emerging growth companies and leading venture capital firms on various general corporate and transactional matters. John Paul was also a member of Gunderson Dettmer’s People of Color External Development and Recruiting Committee where he contributed to the development of policies and procedures to promote the recruitment and retention of lateral attorneys and law students of color.
During his time at UCLA School of Law, John Paul earned a Business Law and Policy Specialization and served as Senior Editor of the Journal of Law and Technology. In addition to his law school curriculum, John Paul concurrently enrolled in courses at UCLA Anderson School of Management which emphasized the financial, control, and investment issues confronting rapidly growing companies in entrepreneurial settings.
When not in the office, John Paul can be found wheel throwing pottery, practicing yoga or at the dog park with his Labrador Retriever, Rocky.
